At Mounts Bay School we offer a great deal of choice in lessons, within subjects and at options time. This allows individuals to pursue their own routeway to success, building on their strengths and overcoming their weaknesses.
Breakthrough to Success
All students experience a cognitive psychology programme designed to put them in control of their learning and develop a positive mental attitude.
Gifted & Talented
Over 10 per cent of the students at Mounts Bay will be classified as either gifted or talented. To provide for their individual needs we help students become involved with the DCSF sponsored Young, Gifted and Talented programme. In addition we have an increasing number of students enrolled on fast track routes to GCSE and A level qualifications.
Learning Experiences
From interactive handsets in Maths to state-of-the-art performance analysis software in P.E, learning is becoming more individual. We offer a choice of activities in lessons, developing independent learning skills, effective communication, teamwork and other vital attributes preparing students for life beyond school. All students are also offered the chance to study GCSE level courses at the earliest opportunity to maximise their success at Mounts Bay.
Special Needs
Some students will need extra support to catch up on literacy or numeracy. They may need help with their behaviour or attitude to learning. Our team of Teaching Assistants provides in-class support and small group lessons where appropriate. We also provide a safe, welcoming environment with IT facilities in our Zone 5 area of Learning Support.
